Bureau Veritas will release a cloud-based application to help operators comply with the upcoming regulations, and improve their energy efficiency. The app is called "My Fuel Consumption", and Bureau Veritas will release its first phase. "My Fuel Consumption" aims to help with compliance, as it uses a digitized process throughout the various steps of IMO-DCS and EU MRV regulations.

Bureau Veritas launched a digital application to help crewmembers prepare for port state control inspections, called "PSC Ready". Specifically,  PSC Ready assists ship operators be ready for port state control inspections. ‘PSC Ready’ is a cloud-based application, downloadable for both IOS and Android.

Norwegian-based OSM has launched a new mobile app for seafarers to manage their lives at sea and onshore. The development aims to increase efficiency and management capability, by providing seafarers with an instant overview of all relevant documentation, vessel assignments, communication with the company, pay slips, and others. 

Sailors’ Society issued the latest version of its Wellness at Sea app, aiming to further combat high rates of cardiovascular conditions and mental health disorders among seafarers. The enhancements to the free app include healthy living tips, recipes and exercises.

AkzoNobel announced the launch of Intertrac Vision Lite, a free version app of its big data hull performance prediction tool. The app helps ship owners and operators in the hull coating selection process, as well as to explore the role of big data in supporting hull performance predictions.

The American Bureau of Shipping has launched NS Workboat™, a new mobile application from ABS Nautical Systems, purpose-built for the workboat/inland sector, that aims to simplify Subchapter M compliance requirements with minimal disruption to day-to-day operations.

Wilhelmsen Ships Service announced that it will participate at Nor-Shipping 2017, where it will unveil its augmented reality project, an interactive tool that enables visitors to view the company’s latest products and systems, inside and out. Visitors will be able to download a reader app to their phones and scan a printed image to unlock the AR system.

For establishing a Ballast Water Management Plan more quickly, DNV GL has developed the BWMP generator app which easily generates ship’s BWMP. This web app helps make sure you are compliant with the least amount of effort. Simply enter the pumps available, ballast water tanks and sampling procedures, then upload the relevant plans and drawings.

Inmarsat announced that its maritime connectivity service Fleet Xpress, has been selected by Hong Kong-based Fleet Management Limited (FML), large independent third-party ship manager. The service enhances vessel efficiency, crew welfare and safety, and facilitates ‘connected ship’ applications.

The ability to assess and compare the position-keeping capability of a ship equipped with dynamic positioning technology is vital during the planning and design phases, and provides valuable operational decision support. Therefore, DNV GL presented its new standard for assessing the station keeping capability of DP vessels at the European Dynamic Positioning Conference that held in London, on 07 February.
