The US Coast Guard informed that it is searching for two missing people, after an 18-foot vessel capsizes on December 30, off Jupiter Inlet. The two people missing are a Bahamian national, which according to the USCG is a suspected migrant smuggler, and a 9-year-old Haitian national.

The seabed exploration company Ocean Infinity announced that it has located the missing Argentine Navy submarine 'ARA San Juan', exactly one year after it disappeared in the Atlantic ocean, along with its 44 crew. After two months of search, the company located the wreckage in a ravine in 920m of water, approximately 600 km east of Comodoro Rivadavia in the Atlantic Ocean.

The bulk carrier 'Anatoly Krasheninnikov' sank in the Far Eastern Sea of Okhotsk on November 9. The ship had 13 people on board at the time of the incident, while ten were saved by a nearby ship. The other three remain unaccounted for, but aerial search for them has been suspended because of difficult weather.

A cargo ship carrying sand sank off China's Liaoning Province, local authorities informed on Sunday, October 21. As a result of the sinking, eleven people are missing. The maritime search and rescue center along with the city government have now deployed vessels, aircraft and over 500 rescuers which are conducting a search and rescue operation.

In late afternoon of Saturday, 20 October, a Mexican Navy helicopter crashed into the ocean while engaged in anti-poaching patrols over the vaquita refuge in the Upper Gulf of California (aka Sea of Cortez). 11 of the 12 helicopter crew were rescued, with two seriously injured and one missing.

US Navy and local boats are helping in the search and rescue operation of the Air Niugini flight, which crashed into a Pacific lagoon in Micronesia on Friday, October 28. one person is missing, while six passengers are in hospital in a stable condition. The plane crashed while it was trying to land in the middle of heavy rain and poor visibility.

At least 136 people were killed after the ferry 'MV Nyerere', estimated to be significantly overcrowded, capsized on Lake Victoria, Tanzania, on Thursday afternoon. The exact number of the people onboard cannot be estimated because the ticketing officer was among those who perished in the disaster.

An Indonesian ferry sank after sustaining a major fire in the waters off Banggai Laut, Central Sulawesi on Friday. At least 10 people have been reported dead as a result from the accident, including two kids below 5 years old, while about 20 passengers are still unaccounted for.
