Seafarers to enter Mauritius only for rest purposes, due to quarantine conditions

In an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, Mauritius announced the extension of a quarantine period, while prohibited the entry of crew, aircraft and passengers until 31st May. According to GAC, crew members are only allowed to enter Mauritius for crew rest purposes as per their flight time limitation scheme at the Holiday Inn Hotel, which has been designated as the sole state-designated quarantine facility. What is more, they must strictly abide by the sanitary protocols set out by the Ministry of Health and Wellness. Concluding, all prospective, crew, passengers (including children and infants) travelling to Mauritius must possess the following documents: a certificate of a negative COVID – 19 PCR test administered between 5 and 7 days prior to the date of boarding at the last point of embarkation. a valid air ticket to Mauritius; and proof of purchase of a travel package including accommodation, on a full board basis, at a designated hotel for a mandatory 14-day in-room quarantine followed by 7 days self isolation.
