AMSA to deploy underwater drones to assess containers lost from YM Efficiency

On 8 November, AMSA signed a contract to commence operations with Remotely Operated Underwater Vehicles (ROUVs) to investigate the containers lost from the YM Efficiency. The images of the ocean floor by the ROUVs will allow an assessment by salvage experts on whether the items can be brought to the surface safely and without causing more damage to the environment.

Cracked underwater pipeline caused the fatal spill off Indonesia

Indonesian state-owned energy giant Pertamina took over the responsibility for an oil spill off Balikpapan, which caused a fatal fire, on 31st of March. The company had initially denied involvement on the incident, but it said Wednesday that the spill was caused by an underwater pipeline that cracked during its clean up operations.
