Port of Vancouver expands noise reduction features in protection of whales

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority has expanded its industry-leading EcoAction Program, encouraging vessels that call on the Port of Vancouver to quiet the waters for the endangered whale population along the southern coast of British Columbia. Specifically, the program got into force on January 1, 2019. 

New icebreaker for Norway launched in Muggiano

Fincantieri announced that “Kronprins Haakon”, the oceanographic icebreaker which is building for the Norwegian government, has been launched at the shipyard in Muggiano. Fittings will continue leading the vessel to its delivery, scheduled by the end of 2017.

VARD receives Aker BioMarine fishing vessel order

Boskalis transports and installs Ocean Cleanup’s first prototype

Boskalis will transport and install The Ocean Cleanup’s North Sea prototype, the first ocean cleanup system ever tested at sea, 23 km (12 NM) off the Dutch coast. The goal of the test is to see how the floating barrier design is able to cope in extreme weather at sea during a 12 month period.
