Methanol-fueled vessels mark one year operation

On April 2017, Waterfront Shipping marked one-year since welcoming the world’s first ocean-going vessels, capable of running on methanol, into its fleet. The first three vessels were delivered in April and the remaining four, later, in 2016.

Fuel Gas Supply Systems ordered for LNG-Powered Norwegian ferries

MAN Cryo has signed a contract with the Vard Shipyard Group in Norway, to deliver a fuel-gas supply system to two ferries for Torghatten Nord. Each ferry will be equipped with a gas-electric, hybrid-propulsion system that features optional fast-charging from shore.

Yara to deliver hybrid scrubbers to Toll

Yara Marine Technologies announced that it has been awarded a contract for the supply of hybrid scrubber systems on two RoRo vessels to global logistics company Toll. Work is underway on the first vessel at Jinling Shipyard in Nanjing, China.

MAN engine selected for US Navy new fleet

MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that the US Navy has chosen the Fairbanks Morse MAN 12V48/60CR engine as main propulsion for a new series of 17 ships, as it begins plans to phase out its existing tanker fleet. The engine was chosen on the basis of the set programme goals of energy efficiency, equipment reliability and cargo-handling efficiency.

New project expands Sund plant on Faroe Islands, reduces NOx

MAN Diesel & Turbo is to supply four-stroke engines will expand the existing “Sund” power plant near the capital Tórshavn and will run on Heavy Fuel Oil to generate both electrical power and heat for the district heating network on the island. The project has emphasis on restricting the impact on the environment by significantly reducing the level of NOx.

MAN to service Teekay’s sisters LNG carriers

MAN PrimeServ has signed a maintenance contract with Teekay Shipping. The new Engine Management Concept contract is for the maintenance of the ‘Oak Spirit’, ‘Creole Spirit’ and ‘Torben Spirit’. The agreement covers the provision of spare-parts, maintenance management and the servicing of each vessel’s 2 ME-GI (-Gas Injection) dual-fuel main engines.

MAN supplies online monitoring program to Stena Line

MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that signed a contract with Stena Line to provide its online service to two superferries. PrimeServ Online Service is MAN Diesel & Turbo´s service for monitoring engines and turbochargers automatically and continuously.
