Knutsen newbuilds to feature MAN dual-fuel engines

MAN Diesel & Turbo informed that Norwegian Knutsen OAS Shipping ordered four 5G70ME-GI engines with EGR systems, in connection with the construction of two 180,000 m3 LNG tanker newbuildings. Upon delivery in 2020, the vessels will transport cargoes worldwide for two Spanish utility companies.

World’s first dual-fuel gas engine successfully runs on ethane

MAN Diesel and Turbo announced that its world’s first Gas Injection Ethane two-stroke engine has successfully passed gas trials on board the ‘Gaschem Beluga’, a liquefied ethylene gas carrier, while sailing between Houston and the Bahamas. The ship crossed the Atlantic on its way to Europe, powered solely by ethane, and has achieved a total of 550 operational hours.

High-pressure SCR introduced for two-stroke engines

MAN Diesel & Turbo and its licensee, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding, announced that introduced its new high-pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction system – MAN SCR-HP. The company expects to deliver the first system from the beginning of 2018.

Fuel Gas Supply Systems ordered for LNG-Powered Norwegian ferries

MAN Cryo has signed a contract with the Vard Shipyard Group in Norway, to deliver a fuel-gas supply system to two ferries for Torghatten Nord. Each ferry will be equipped with a gas-electric, hybrid-propulsion system that features optional fast-charging from shore.

MAN engine selected for US Navy new fleet

MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that the US Navy has chosen the Fairbanks Morse MAN 12V48/60CR engine as main propulsion for a new series of 17 ships, as it begins plans to phase out its existing tanker fleet. The engine was chosen on the basis of the set programme goals of energy efficiency, equipment reliability and cargo-handling efficiency.

MAN to service Teekay’s sisters LNG carriers

MAN PrimeServ has signed a maintenance contract with Teekay Shipping. The new Engine Management Concept contract is for the maintenance of the ‘Oak Spirit’, ‘Creole Spirit’ and ‘Torben Spirit’. The agreement covers the provision of spare-parts, maintenance management and the servicing of each vessel’s 2 ME-GI (-Gas Injection) dual-fuel main engines.

MAN supplies online monitoring program to Stena Line

MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that signed a contract with Stena Line to provide its online service to two superferries. PrimeServ Online Service is MAN Diesel & Turbo´s service for monitoring engines and turbochargers automatically and continuously.

MAN to power King Abdullah Port

MAN Diesel & Turbo announced that its engines secure power supply in the port of King Abdullah Economic City. Three MAN generator sets are supplying the electricity for the crane facility at King Abdullah Port – the most modern port in Saudi Arabia.
