OOCL announced that dual environmental reporting standards through the use of both CCWG and ISO 14064-1 verifications have successfully been adopted

BIMCO has this week formally started the process of accepting applications from Private Maritime Security Companies (PMSCs) for associate membership - now that certification bodies have been accredited.

LRQA achieves accreditation from the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) for ISO 28000 including ISO/PAS 28007:2012 Guidelines for Private Maritime Security companies. LRQA has been providing a global range of training and assessment services for nearly a year and has certified a number of organisations in the UK, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Korea and Greece.

UKAS has been running a pilot assessment programme for Certification Bodies that wish to certify Private Security Companies (PSC), who operate either on land or in the maritime environment. The project is sponsored by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office, who have stated that the applicable certification standard for the land based PSCs is ANSI/ASIS PSC1. For the maritime sector, certification is to ISO 28000, using ISO PAS 28007 as guidelines.
