LNG exports to continue strong in 2018

This was partly because of the increasing LNG demand in China, which has started shifting millions of homes and businesses from coal to gas fired heating. Growth in 2018 is expected to continue, with global LNG exports increasing by the fastest rate since the launch of Qatar’s mega trains back in 2010.

2017 slippages to obstruct LNG shipping charter rates recovery

The increasing vessel supply will put pressure on LNG charter rates in 2018. It also added that its short-term outlook for LNG charter rates is still pessimistic because of the high fleet growth rate compared with demand. In 2017, 43 vessels were planned to be delivered, while only 27 were delivered during the year, with 16 were being delivered in 2018. In 2018 a total of 69 vessels are scheduled for delivery in 2018.
