Watch: Japanese consortium to develop first fully electric tanker

A Japanese consortium is to provide new infrastructure services with a focus on electric vessels. Their newly established company, called e5 Lab., will work to develop and promote the greater use of these clean modes of marine transport by building the world’s first zero-emission tanker by mid 2021. 

Watch: Japanese warship collides with dock in Brisbane

The Japanese warship ‘JS Kunisaki’ collided into Brisbane’s Portside Wharf while trying to dock, Tuesday, 17 June. There were no injuries of crew onboard or spectators but the vessel was left visibly damaged. The causes of the incident are yet to be determined.

The Japanese container ship business, Ocean Network Express, has officially launched its first container ship at Imabari Shipbuilding in Japan. The 14,000 TEU vessel ‘ONE Minato’ is scheduled for delivery in December 2018. ONE announced the official commencement of its container shipping businesses on 1 April 2018.
