Capt. Maria Agius has been working with Celebrity Cruises since 2015. Capt. Agius acknowledges fatigue as a key challenge for life onboard; nonetheless, there are several ways of tackling fatigue and essentially ensuring the wellbeing of all seafarers onboard, she says.

Capt. Maria Koliou has been working with Celebrity Cruises since 2017. Before joining Celebrity Cruises, she worked with Anangel Maritime Services for seven years. Capt. Koliou sailed for the first time in 2010 and she shares her experience, highlighting that  working at sea is adventurous and demanding but also one of a kind experience. 

We have asked Mr. Frantzeskos D. Kontos, DPA at Prime Marine Management, to make an assessment of 2020 from his perspective and share his message for the new year across the global community. Among others, he highlights that industry's main focus should be on the reduction of shipping environmental footprint and start considering safety and environmental targets as challenges for improvement rather than burdens.

Among others, she highlights that shipping needs to cherish the good practices of past and embrace the new as well as to enrich the human experience and wisdom with digital intelligence in a practical and collaborative manner.

We have asked Mr. Theo Xenakoudis, Director, Worldwide Business Operations at IRI/The Marshall Islands Registry, to make an assessment of 2020 from his perspective and share his message for the new year across the global community. Among others, for the new year, he foresees strong growth across the markets and a focus on sustainable shipping practices.

We have asked Mrs. Diane Gilpin, Smart Green Shipping's CEO and founder, to make an assessment of 2020 from her perspective and share her message for the new year across the global community. Among others, she highlights that going green is a necessity; our industry needs to to give up believing that it is ‘hard to decarbonise' and take action. 

We have asked Captain Hari Subramaniam, Regional Head - Business Relations, Shipowners’ Club, to make an assessment of 2020 from his perspective and share his message for the new year across the global community. Among others, he sees a positive outlook for the new year, highlighting how important is that industry's stakeholders have shown resilience during such difficult times.

We have asked Capt Yves Vandenborn, Director of Loss Prevention at The Standard Club, to make an assessment of 2020 from his perspective and share his message for the new year across the global community. Among others, he wishes that lessons learnt during this year are not quickly forgotten and that ship managers will really focus more on the wellbeing of their seafarers.

We have asked Capt Panagiotis Nikiteas, HSQE Manager / DPA / CSO at Maran Dry Management Inc., to make an assessment of 2020 from his perspective and share his message for the new year across the global community. Among others, he highlights that we should keep in mind that when we return to normality, not to forget the useful tools and processes that lock-downs and restrictions brought into light.

We have asked Mrs. Pia Meling, Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Massterly AS - A Kongsberg Wilhelmsen joint venture, to make an assessment of 2020 from her perspective and share her message for the new year across the global community. Among others, she wishes for the new year that industry will ensure lasting efficiency gains from automation and remote services and use every mean to drastically speed up decarbonization path.
