IMCA published a safety flash informing on an injury onboard a vessel. Specifically, the injury has to do with the chief engineer of the vessel that was asked to repair a provisions lift that was stuck. Therefore, the lift dropped on his head, resulting to a serious head injury.

Transport Malta's Marine Safety Investigation Unit (MSIU) issued an investigation report on a serious injury of a stevedore onboard the Panamanian-flagged general cargo ship 'NS Tera' at Laboratory Wharf, Valletta, in April 2018. 

An explosion took place on board the bulk carrier 'Great Aspiration', on April 17, in Celtic sea off Lizard, UK. Three crewmembers sustained serious burns, and were in need of medical assistance. The inured men were rescued from the bulker, as a search and rescue helicopter winched them off the ship. 'Great Aspiration' was anchored at Mount’s Bay on April 18, and it continued its sailing that day, going to Falmouth, under its own power.

Four persons in a speed boat armed with automatic weapons approached and boarded an anchored product tanker, on April 15, at Bonny River Inner Anchorage, Nigeria. Fires were shot, with the pirates eventually retreating and escaping. One guard was injured during the shooting and was given first aid by the crew. The remaining crew are reported to be safe. 

Based on documents obtained by the Kansas City Star, the Ride the Ducks amphibious vehicle that sank in Branson, Missouri in 2018 had been refitted with less capable bilge pumps prior to the accident, with the U.S. Coast Guard's approval. 

Royal Caribbean has cancelled the next three scheduled sailings of Oasis of the Seas, following an accident where a construction crane struck the ship while undergoing scheduled repairs at Grand Bahama Shipyard, Freeport, Bahamas, on Monday.

Transport Malta published its report regarding a serious injury to crew member on board the cargo ship 'Adam Asnyk', on 15 February 2018. The crew member sustained multiple fractures to his leg, arm and pelvis, as during cleaning the cargo with a hose, he lost his balance as he tried to free the snagged hose. The locking pin that would have locked the railing and prevent it from lifting upwards was never in place from the design stage of the ship.

The luxury cruise ship 'Viking Sky' arrived at the port of Molde on Norway’s west coast Sunday, after narrowly escaping disaster when its engines failed during a storm in the Norwegian sea. A total of 1,400 passengers and crew were onboard at that time.

The Bahamas Maritime Authority (BMA) issued a safety alert concerning the safe transfer of passengers during tender boat operations. The publication came following a recent injury incident of two passengers during transfer on a tender boat.
