India’s Oil and Natural Gas corp. moves a record 35-offshore drilling rigs

India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) has moved a record high 35 offshore drilling rigs to new locations ahead of the Indian monsoon season. Aqualis Offshore, the international marine and offshore engineering consultancy announced that it assisted the offshore rigs’ transmit. 

Reliance, BP to develop MJ project off India

Reliance Industries Limited and BP announced the sanction of the MJ project in Block KG D6, offshore the east coast of India. MJ is the third of three new projects in the Block KG D6 and its approval comes after sanctions for the development of ‘R-Series’ deep-water gas field in June 2017 and for the Satellites cluster in April 2018.

India issues draft offshore wind energy lease rules

Under its National Offshore Wind Energy Policy, India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has issued draft offshore wind energy lease rules for the development of offshore wind energy projects for production of electrical power within the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the country.

India publishes draft Wind Turbine Certification Scheme

The Indian Wind Turbine Certification Scheme is combining relevant National and International Standards, Technical Regulations and requirements issued by Central Electricity Authority, guidelines issued by MNRE and other international guidelines. It also attempts to incorporate various best practices from other countries.

India sets 30 GW offshore wind target by 2030

India’s Ministry of New and Renewable Energy unveiled medium and long-term targets for the country’s offshore wind energy of 5GW by 2022 and 30 GW by 2030, respectively, as part of overall efforts to boost national renewable energy sector. MNRE had notified National Offshore Wind Policy in October 2015.

Four-year study shows feasibility of India’s offshore wind

DNV GL unveiled the final reports in a study which demonstrates the commercial and technical feasibility of the offshore wind market In India. Co-funded by the European Union, GPCL and ReNew Power, the FOWIND project is intended to enable organisations to make future investments in the region.

Nine companies bid for oil and gas blocks offshore India

Nine companies have placed bids for 55 oil and gas blocks in India, as part of the Open Acreage Licensing Programme. The companies are Oil and Natural Gas Corp, Oil India, Indian Oil Corp, GAIL and Bharat Petro Resources, Vedanta, Selan, HOEC and Sun Petro. India will now evaluate the bids and decisions are expected after the commercial bids open.
