The 10th session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 10) met 16-20 September 2024, where various matters were discussed. 

In his speech delivered on 16 September 2024, as an opening remark the 10th session of the Sub-Committee on Carriage of Cargoes and Containers (CCC 10), IMO Secretary-General, Arsenio Dominguez, expressed serious concerns about geopolitical conflicts affecting shipping and endangering seafarers.

The IMO Sub-committee on Implementation of IMO Instruments (III) 10th session was held from 22 to 26 July 2024, where various issues were discussed.

The IMO Navigation, Communications and Search and Rescue Eleventh Session (NCSR 11) took place from between 4 – 13 June 2024, at the IMO in London. 

IMO’s Legal Committee has finalized a new set of guidelines to ensure seafarers are protected against unfair treatment if detained in foreign jurisdictions on suspicion of committing a crime. 

The Sub-Committee endorsed a roadmap and goal-based approach for developing fire safety systems and arrangements to reduce the fire risk of ships carrying new energy vehicles, including battery electric vehicles (BEVs). These will be submitted to the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC 109) in December 2024 for consideration and endorsement. 

The 10th Session of the IMO Sub-Committee on Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE) took place 04 - 08 March, where various amendments were discussed. 

The IMO is advancing efforts to ensure the safe transport of plastic pellets transported on ships, which can cause damage to the marine environment if released into the sea. 

The eleventh session of IMO's Sub-Committee on Pollution Prevention and Response (PPR 11), took place 19 – 23 February, where discussions on prevention of pollution in the marine environment took place prior to agreement by the IMO’s Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC).
