Skuld announced an update to Wave BL Network Bylaws to version 2.0 dated 1 November 2023 which had previously approved by the International Group (IG). The legal documentation and terms of use associated with WAVE are held in the Wave Application and Network Bylaws, version 1 dated 20 December 2019 ('Wave Bylaws version 1').

According to IG P&I Club, the Electronic Trade Documents Act came into force on 18th September, in the United Kingdom, giving legal recognition in English law to electronic trade documents, including electronic bills of lading.

The International Group of P&I Clubs (IG) approved the WAVE Network and its blockchain system which now enables electronic trading and less paperwork in light of the digital era of the shipping industry. WAVE's system is based on a legal framework that assist the transfer and endorsement of electronic bills of lading.
