Three decades after breaking free from the Filchner Ice Shelf in 1986, the colossal iceberg A23a, one of the world's largest, appears to be moving beyond Antarctic waters after being grounded for more than three decades according to reports from the British Antarctic Survey.

According to The British Antarctic Survey (BAS), two colossal icebergs named A81 and A76 are on the move and will have a significant impact on the ocean ecosystems that support the diverse marine wildlife found in the Antarctic region. 

The video, published by the American Geophysical Union (AGU), seeks to explain the ever-lasting phenomenon of green icebergs in the Antarctic. Researchers recently proposed a new idea that may explain why some Antarctic icebergs are tinged emerald green rather than the normal blue, potentially solving a decades-long scientific mystery.

The Coast Guard International Ice Patrol announced that it's starting operations for the 2019 ice season as from February 5, 2019 and will resume production of the North American Ice Service (NAIS) daily iceberg warning products from its operations center in New London, Connecticut. NAIS provides iceberg warning from February to August, in the timeframe when icebergs are a great threat to transatlantic shipping.

Chinese icebreaker 'Xue Long' collided on an iceberg in Antarctic, during its 35th Antarctic research mission, on January 19. After the collision the icebreaker avoided any mechanical casualties and according to the Ministry of Natural Resources there were no injuries reported concerning the crew onboard.

Dr. David Holland of New York University, in collaboration with Dr. Natalya Gomez at McGill University, are leading an investigation of sea level variations in the Disko Bay region of western Greenland.

Under its Operation IceBridge, NASA captured a photo of a very sharp-angled, tabular iceberg floating among sea ice in the Antarctic Peninsula, on 16 October. The rectangular iceberg appeared to be freshly calved from Larsen C, which in July 2017 released the massive A68 iceberg.

A huge iceberg has come dangerously close to the village Innaarsuit in Greenland. As local media reported, a partial evacuation is taking place in case the iceberg splits. As of now, the iceberg has not moved. Despite fact that locals are used to icebergs, the say that they have never seen anything like this.

A team of NYU scientists has captured on video a 4-mile iceberg breaking away from a glacier in Greenland. This phenomenon, known as "calving", is a force behind the rise of global sea water levels. The resulting iceberg would stretch from lower Manhattan up to Midtown in NY. 

Marine salvage experts are considering a plan to tug icebergs from Antarctica to Cape Town, as part of a strategy to solve the region’s water shortage. It is estimated that a single iceberg could produce about 150 million liters per day for about a year, around 30% of the city’s needs.
