The International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) and International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), along with the CEO-led Clean Energy Maritime Taskforce, unveiled the ‘Clean Energy Marine Hubs Initiative’ at the Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) in Pittsburgh.

On 1 January 2024, the maritime single window (MSW) for data exchange between ship and shore will become mandatory in ports around the world. To facilitate the process, IAPH has teamed up with BIMCO and the IMO secretariat in a campaign that will raise awareness about the benefits of the maritime single window concept.

IAPH welcomes the international agreement reached to establish a humanitarian maritime corridor which should enable ships to export essential cargoes of grain and foodstuffs from Ukrainian seaports.

A few months ago, IAPH and The Seafarers’ Charity initiated an emergency appeal to support Ukrainian port workers and their families, but now urged that more action is necessary.

BIMCO, FONASBA, IAPH, IFSMA, InterManager, INTERTANKO, IPTA and IUMI have published a climate change glossary to clarify and harmonise definitions and terminology to ensure that discussions around climate change and potential solutions for the shipping industry are based on a mutual understanding of what the commonly used terms mean.

IAPH published the latest scores of the IAPH Environmental Ship Index (ESI) project on 1 July, noting an increase on vessels' ESI score.

IAPH is inviting ports to become part of the IAPH World Ports Tracker community by responding to a short 8 question survey on a quarterly basis, commencing as of 17th June for Q2 2022.

During the World Ports Conference 2022, the IMO Secretary-General highlighted the importance of ports in maritime decarbonization through their voluntary cooperation with other stakeholders to reduce GHG emissions from ships and acknowledged IAPH's role as a strategic partner in IMO's GreenVoyage2050 Project.

The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH), a non-governmental organization headquartered in Tokyo, is working with The Seafarers’ Charity to support port workers and their families impacted by the war in Ukraine.

IAPH announced that the process to build a new module for the IAPH Environmental Ship Index (ESI) has started. The new module will focus on the environmental performance of ships at berth for each port call.
