Greek marine coatings company Jotun announced it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the world’s largest shipbuilder, South Korean Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), for a new type of marine paint that reduces solvent emissions by up to 90%.
South Korean major shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that its newly spun-off company Hyundai Global Services, specializing in providing total marine services, has signed a MoU with compatriot shipping company KSS Line, for entering into eco-friendly ship business.
The 336m VLCC “Almi Atlas”, features 310,000 in dwt, and a SOx scrubber, which reduces SOx emissions to less than 0.5 pct from the existing 3.5 pct. Namely, the gas cleaning system will be 11 meters in height and 8.3 meters wide, and will use seawater to clean the exhaust gas waste.
