Watch: Cement carrier ran aground in Iceland due to heavy weather

A cement carrier ran aground on the west coast of Iceland on Saturday, November 3 because of the heavy waves and weather conditions. The crew and the pilot controlling the carrier were rescued by a helicopter. The grounding of the ship had as a result the breach of the carrier’s hull and an oil spill.

The video, published by ViralHog, depicts how a maritime pilot is boarding to a moving ship, near the coast of Hailuoto, Finland, when the harsh Arctic conditions won’t allow pilot boats to sail. The film is reportedly dated on 2 April 2018, as the Ro-Ro cargo ship ‘Tavastland’ headed for the Port of Oulu.

AMSA issued a video illustrating the search and rescue efforts of six crew members, after the rudder on their yacht ‘Hollywood Boulevard’ sustained damage and the vessel began taking on water, on 14 January, about 150km east of Flinders Island in Bass Strait.

Video: Inclement weather causes barges to break away in Ohio River

27 barges broke away from Jack’s Run Fleeting near Pittsburgh, two of which remain unaccounted for and are reported to be located above the dam. A reported 34 barges broke away from fleeting areas at mile maker 94 on the Ohio River near Moundsville and they have been located. 

Ship battling off Scotland in 24 hour lifeboat shout

A 88-metre cargo ship with steering problems battling gale force winds and seas of up to ten metres 15 miles west of the Skerryvore light house. Lifeboats from Barra and Tobermory stood by for over 24 hours.
