Hanjin wins USD 4.8 billion contract
For construction of 56 vessels Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction-Philippines has won contracts worth a total of US$4.8 billion for the construction of 56 vessels, including 36 bulk carriers, according to Manila Bulletin. The remaining vessels will comprise 14 container ships and six tankers.Of the bulk carriers, seven will have a capacity of 175,000DWT, eighteen 180,000DWT, and eleven will be 205,000DWT, said Hanjin's general manager for external business, Tae Kyun Yoo. Four of the container ships will be 3,600TEU vessels, two will be 3,800TEU, and eight will be 12,800TEU. All 56 ships will be built at Hanjin's Subic shipyard.Source: World Maritime News
