During its latest Annual Summit in Hong Kong on 3-4 October 2018, the Global Maritime Forum presented its Global Maritime Issues Monitor 2018 report, in which maritime leaders ranked ‘energy efficiency’ and ‘choice of emissions reduction strategies’ as most likely to influence the sector in the next 10 years.

The Global Maritime Forum’s Annual Summit took place in Hong Kong on 3-4 October 2018. This high-level meeting gathered maritime leaders to discuss industry-wide, long-term challenges and opportunities. Under the theme 'Breaking New Ground, Digitalisation',  the forum discussed about decarbonisation, gender cap and the future of the industry in an environment characterized by fast-paced changes.

The meeting on 3-4 October 2018 will convene industry leaders to share ideas on the challenges facing the maritime industry and to develop practical proposals to optimise global seaborne trade and increase sustainable long term economic development and human wellbeing.

In an exclusive interview with SAFETY4SEA, Johannah Christensen & Michael Soested, Directors of the Global Maritime Forum, talk about their hopes & and present and the agenda of the forum which intends to present the first results of its initiatives at the inaugural summit in October 2018.

Danish Maritime Forum, which is considered as the “Davos of the maritime industry” has been renamed as 'Global Maritime Forum', becoming a new global platform to better contribute to a positive long term change for the industry and for society. Fourteen global and prominent industry leaders are backing the Forum which aims to serve as a broader platform for dialogue and collaboration to increase sustainable long term economic development and human wellbeing.
