A Korean man has been charged by the Royal Gibraltar Police for court, following an oil spill in the Bay of Gibraltar earlier this month.

On 15th August, the hulk of the dry bulk carrier OS 35 arrived in Amsterdam, where it is set to be recycled, one year after the vessel was wrecked.

According to the Government of Gibraltar, the port has suspended its port operations following a bunker fuel spill incident on 1st August. 

Peninsula, has completed its first sustainable biofuel delivery to DS NORDEN. The receiving vessel was NORDEN’s 62,594 dwt bulk carrier, La Luna.

The salvage operation to remove bow section of wrecked bulker OS 35 which begun on 3rd July, completed.  The two sections of the hulk have been removed, 10 months after the vessel hit an anchored gas carrier and sank off Gibraltar.

Port officials reports that the next step in the process to remove the wreck of the bulker OS 35 that sank at the end of August 2022 off Gibraltar is now underway. 

The Gibraltar Port Authority  announced that on 15th June, salvage operation for the bulker OS 35 that sunk more than nine months ago after hitting a gas carrier in the anchorage at the entrance to Gibraltar’s harbor, is entering its final phase.

The Port of Gibraltar reports that the Captain of the port, John Ghio, has received an updated timeline and revised method statement from the contractors on the preparations and plans for the final removal of the OS 35 wreck.

According to the Gibraltar Port Authority, as a result of the adverse weather conditions at sea last week, the OS 35 has shifted slightly from its position and separated further in the area of the hull previously damaged.

Port of Gibraltar has released a survey report detailing the damage sustained by the OS 35 wreck as a result of recent storms. The wreck, which must be removed by May 30th, suffered further damage on its hull and fuel tank 1.
