A fleet of huge, new built oil tankers are scheduled to ship diesel out of East Asia. Five very big crude carriers, that ship approximately 2 million barrels of oil each, are for the time being placed in the seas of China's eastern and southern coasts. Two additional new-builds are to be added in the fleet. If all of the vessels were fully loaded, they would have what is currently held in Europe's key trading hub of the Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp ports.

The new system will provide online application functions, more content options and a more 'user-friendly' interface. Furhtermore, KR has digitalized all previous paper documents submitted by shipowners. This led to a new management function called "Survey Planner".

ABS released its Nautical Systems Enterprise fleet management software, including NS Insight, a new business intelligence module. The NS aims to assist in the planning, execution and documentation of all compliance work processes. The new system includes a cloud-based NS Voyage Manager, tan expanded NS Autologger, and enhancements to NS Health, Safety, Quality, and Environmental Manager.

The deal includes two 64,900 DWT crude oil tankers, two 109,900 DWT refined oil/crude tankers and three 114,000 DWT crude oil tankers, and aims to optimize the structure of COSCO's tankers and enhance the overall competitiveness of the fleet.

According to data from the Alphaliner, the biggest container shipping company by number of chartered and owned ships in its fleet is Denmark- based APM-Maersk, with currently 636 ships in service. The second largest fleet is run by MSC. The top-five is completed by France-based CMA-CGM, Chinese COSCO and German-Chilean Hapag-Lloyd.

DNV GL opened two digital fleet performance centres in Hamburg and Singapore, to support ECO Insight operators in monitoring and optimizing their fleets. Through expert systems, the centres will check incoming vessel data, providing quality control and suggestions on potential improvement levers for both individual vessels and fleets.
