In its latest Safety Digest report, UK MAIB published an incident concerning a 70-minute scheduled trip, when after 10 minutes, a small coastal passenger cruiser suffered a main engine failure that resulted in an engine room fire. There were no injuries but the vessel had to be taken out of service.

London-based Stolt-Nielsen Limited foresees a negative financial impact on its tanker business, because of the fire at Intercontinental Terminals Company’s facility in Houston, which resulted to a chemical spill in the Houston Ship Channel.

The Australian passenger vessel 'Fitzroy Flyer' suffered an engine room fire and all of its four crew and 37 passengers were evacuated, east-north-east of Cairns, Queensland on 29 March 2019. Fitzroy Flyer was on a return trip to Cairns from Fitzroy Island.

Iron Chieftain bulker vessel departed from Port Kembla on March 27, and is now heading to its final resting place in Turkey. The vessel suffered a major fire in June 2018, and 100 firefighters were deployed to extinguish the fire.

Six petrochemical storage tanks caught fire at the International Terminal Co. storage farm at Houston's sprawling Deer Park refining complex, on March 17. The fire spread quickly, and managed to affect a total of seven filled. These tanks include gasoline, xylene, naphtha and lubricant base oil. All employees are accounted for, and no injuries have been reported.

Costa Smeralda, the first LNG-fueled cruise ship of the Costa Cruises fleet, suffered a minor fire on the deck 15, while undergoing the final stage of construction at the Finnish shipyard Meyer Turku, Monday afternoon. There was stored equipment on fire, started by welding inside the ship.

A fire broke out aboard the mine countermeasures ship 'USS Devastator', while the ship was pierside at Naval Support Activity Bahrain at approximately 8 p.m. local, March 14, according to data provided by the US navy.
