UK MAIB published its report on Finlandia Seaways, which on 16 April 2018 sufered a catastrophic main engine failure that caused serious structural damage to the engine and a fire in the engine room.

On January 17, fire broke out on the floating fish processor Aleutian Falcon at the pier in Tacoma. No injuries have been reported.

Following the LPG tanker's explosion nearby a local yard in East Kalimantan off Indonesia, authorities announced that at least three workers at the shipyard lost their life.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) recovered the bodies of three crew members who were trapped inside the engine room of the offshore supply ship ‘Greatship Rohini’ which caught fire on February 13.

NTSB issued an investigation report on the engine room fire aboard the towing vessel City of Cleveland on the Lower Mississippi River, in February 2020. The investigation identified catastrophic engine failure and crankcase breach of the port main engine, as key cause of the incident. 

On February 11, Turkey's General Directorate of Coastal Safety (KEGM) saved the Ro/Ro Gallipoli Seaways off the Babakale. A bus aboard the ship caught fire, spreading the fire, and causing an extended firefighting effort. 

Hong Kong MARDEP shared the findings of a serious fire accident, which took place onboard the accommodation of a Hong Kong registered bulk carrier whilst at anchorage. The investigation showed that the fire was most probably caused by a faulty electrical device or its accessories in a crew cabin which led to a short circuit with the heat and sparks igniting the materials placed beside it.

An Indonesia LPG tanker was on fire after an oil barge exploded very nearby at a local yard in East Kalimantan, Indonesia. According to a video that was published, the barge exploded at he PT Barokah Galangan Perkasa shipyard in close proximity to the moored Grace V, a 1989-built, 2,010 cu m LPG carrier.

NTSB issued an investigation report on the fire and explosion onboard the towing vessel 'Susan Lynn', off Lousiana, in October 2019. The investigation identified a catastrophic engine failure as key cause of the accident. 

A Great Lakes freighter caught fire while docked for winter at Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding, on January 1st. No injuries were reported.
