Watch: Russia’s only aircraft carrier on fire

Russia’s only aircraft carrier, Admiral Kuznetsov, was caught on fire on Thursday, December 12, during work in Russia’s Arctic Sea port of Murmansk, as Reuters reports. The area the fire took place covers 120 square metres, with diesel fuel currently burning and firefighters using foam, in attempts to extinguish the fire.

A fire erupted onboard the Sierra Leone-flagged bulk carrier Yong Shun in the morning hours of Thursday while the ship was underway about 6 nautical miles south of Vung Tau Vietnam.  The ship was en route from Hong Kong to Phu My, Vietnam at the time of the incident.

The general cargo ship ‘Volgo-Balt 205’ caught fire in Russia on Wednesday, September  27 at about 0400 Moscow time, near Tolyatti city, Volga river, Central Russia. The 12 crewmembers evacuated the vessel when it caught fire; Thus, there were no injuries reported.

AMSA reports that on July 16, Tuesday, received an alert from the Japanese Coast Guard, according to which the Myojin Maru No. 8, was in distress after a fire broke out onboard. According to reports, the 24 crewmembers onboard were abandoning the vessel into lifeboats.

More than a dozen of seafarers were rescued, after a fire erupted onboard an oil tanker in Khalid Port, UAE, in the morning hours of Wednesday. The ship was reportedly carrying thousands of tonnes of diesel at the time. 

Watch: Con/ro catches fire off Finistère

The Italian con/ro ‘Grande America’ caught fire, approximately 140 nm off Finistère, forcing all 27 members of her crew to abandon ship, on March 10. After being informed  by the captain that the vessel was on fire, the Royal Navy diverted to the scene to provide assistance. Although no one from the crew was injured, some required hospital treatment.
