Between 1 May and 17 June 2022, AMSA conducted a focused inspection campaign on hours of work and rest. The results of the campaign were positive and showed general compliance with the work and rest requirements. Most of the inspections conducted during this period, resulted in no hours of work and rest related deficiencies.

Between 15 January and 28 February 2022, AMSA conducted a focused inspection campaign on planned maintenance, showing that a high number of ships failed to comply with planned maintenance requirements. 

The Focused Inspection Campaign will take place from October 2022 to May 2023 and it will consist of inspections targeting safety requirements including safety equipment, certificates of operation, safety management systems, and UVI’s.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) announced that a new Focused Inspection Campaign (FIC) on hours of work and rest has been initiated from 1 May 2022 to run up to 30 June 2022.

AMSA conducted a Safety of Navigation Focused Inspection Campaign (FIC) over the period 1 August to the 8 September 2021 and found that a significant number of ships failed to comply to basic navigation safety requirements.

AMSA announced that a Focused Inspection Campaign on Safety of Navigation will be conducted from 1 August 2021 to 30 September 2021. A Focused Inspection Campaign (FIC) on safety of navigation will take place in Australia from 1st August to 30 September 2021. The purpose of the campaign is to determine the level of compliance with the safety of navigation requirements of international Conventions, as well as the familiarity of the master and officers with their processes for ensuring safety of navigation.
