One person was killed and another one was injured on the aftermath of an explosion onboard the general cargo ship 'Mumtaz Amca' at Sinop anchorage, Turkey, Black sea, on Wednesday.While en route from Tuapse, Russia, to Izmit, Turkey, the ship, loaded with coal, sheltered in Sinop Cape area due to heavy weather, when a gas entrapment in the boiler room caused an explosion

The pilot, identified as Miguel Conceição, was disembarking from the Hong Kong-flagged 'Singapore Express' to a pilot boat in Cascais Bay, when he fell into the water, reportedly due to inclement weather and high waves in combination with pitch dark at the time, on Wednesday early morning.

The Petroleum Safety Authority of Norway has identified serious shortcomings in systems and processes for materials handling, on the aftermath of investigation on the 'Maersk Interceptor' fatal accident, on 7 December 2017. Maersk Drilling Norge has accordingly been given notice of an order. 

The Singapore-flagged chemical tanker ‘Bow Mariner’ sank off Virginia after a fire broke out while its crew was engaged in cleaning residual from cargo tank, resulting in the death of 21 people, total loss of the ship, as well as significant marine pollution.

The USCG and the American Waterways Operators released the National Quality Steering Committee’s annual safety report, containing freight carrying towing industry data and measures for 1994-2016. The report looks at crew fatalities per 100,000 workers, gallons of oil spilled, and the number of towing vessel marine casualties.

The US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement informed that is currently conducting an investigation regarding the fatality of a construction worker in an area of the Gulf of Mexico known as West Cameron 215A, about 64 miles south of Lake Charles, Louisiana.

After an investigation conducted in the drill ship 'Sagar Bhushan', which suffered an explosion at Cochin shipyard, it showed that it was probably caused by leakage of acetylene gas. This is the initial investigation which indicated the probable cause, and further investigation will take place in order to definitively determine the cause of the explosion.

Five workers were killed and dozen others were injured, as a result of an explosion in a ballast tank of a drill ship that was under repair at the Cochin Shipyard on Tuesday. The explosion occurred in a ballast tank of the ONGC drill ship 'Sagar Bhushan'.

After the ship 'Armata' had departed Tianjin, China in ballast on 15 January 2017 and anchored outside the limits of Tianjin port  awaiting for orders, a crewmember fell down the stairs in the ship, losing his life. After an autopsy report was conducted, no narcotic or psychotropic drugs were revealed, but the autopsy indicated presence of ethanol in blood and in the urine.

The US navy has issued non-judicial punishments to four more sailors over the two fatal collisions involving 'USS Fitzgerald' and 'USS John S. McCain' in summer 2017. In total, 17 sailors have been issued non-judicial punishment on charges related to the two collisions.
