According to local sources, three crewmembers of a rescue boat died after the vessel ran aground off the Western French coast during a rescue mission. Storm Miguel was raging over the Vendée coastline with gusts of up to 129 km/h. 

A crane collapsed at Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s Yangzi Xinfu yard, on June 10, falling into a bulk carrier which was under construction at the time. The accident caused extensive damages to the ship, while two workers were injured, one of whom died. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding provided a comment into the incident, saying that the crane collapsed due to overweight lifting operations.

In light of the Danube fatal collision incident, Hungarian prosecutors said on Thursday, May 30, that the captain of a cruise liner involved in the fatal collision had captained a boat that was in an accident in the Netherlands in April. 

US Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) Gulf of Mexico Regional Director Lars Herbst has established two panels to investigate two serious incidents that took place in the Gulf of Mexico last week. Investigation panels will issue reports with their findings regarding the causes and make suggestions on how to improve current safety measures after the investigations are completed.

According to local sources, Chinese authorities in Shandong Province detained the 3rd officer of cargo ship Jin Hai Xiang (IMO 9118824) on suspicion of negligence in response to the fatal incident that took place on May, when 10 died due to CO2 leak onboard the vessel. 

At least 13 people are confirmed dead after the fatal collision of two tourist boats on the Danube River, Budapest, on the evening hours of 29th May. Divers discovered the 13th body in the wreckage of one of the pleasure boats, Wednesday. Another 15 people remain missing, while seven were rescued. 

The Hong Kong Marine Department issued a shipping information note to draw operators' attention on lessons learned from a recent fatality onboard. When a Hong Kong registered general cargo ship was sailing at sea, the bosun of the vessel fell from tween deck onto the cargo hold bottom resulting in his death. 

Cyprus' Marine Accident Investigation Committee (MAIC) announced that the investigation of the man overboard fatality from the container ship 'Elb Trader' in the Port of Dublin, South Ireland, in January 2018 is still ongoing. France, Cyprus, Italy and Tunisia are jointly involved in the investigation.

Two crewmembers are confirmed dead and two more crew members are unaccounted for, after two Japanese cargo ships collided off the coast of Chiba Prefecture, east Japan, in the early morning hours of Sunday. All four crew members aboard the Sumiho Maru, based in Kure, Hiroshima Prefecture, were safe.

Ten people lost their lives, while 19 others were injured, due to a carbon dioxide leak that occurred on a cargo ship at the Longyan port in Weihai, China, on May 25. The 19 injured were sent to a local hospital and are now stable. The third officer of the ship is suspected as responsible of the incident.
