After a powerful 7.5 magnitude earthquake hit Papua New Guinea's  Southern Highlands province, ExxonMobil and Oil Search announced that they have temporarily shut their operations in the country. The earthquake hit the Southern Highlands about 560 km northwest of the capital, Port Moresby.

New York made an important step towards protecting the environment, as it sued five major oil companies, demanding ExxonMobil, Chevron, BP, Royal Dutch Shell and  ConocoPhillips pay for the cost of protecting the city from the arising threat that the climate change poses.

The new oil discovery is the latest in a series of previous discoveries at places including Liza, Payara, Snoek, Liza Deep and Turbot, which are estimated to total more than 3.2 billion recoverable oil-equivalent barrels. The well was safely drilled to 21,161 feet (6,450 meters) depth in 8,973 feet (2,735 meters) of water.

The State of Alaska approved ExxonMobil’s plan to engineer the expansion of the Point Thomson project on the North Slope, as state and company officials consider it a positive step to achieve major gas sales and increase oil production.

US based, ExxonMobil announced that its wholly owned affiliate, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Mauritania Deepwater Ltd., has signed production sharing contracts with the government of Mauritania for three deepwater offshore blocks.

American energy company Exxon Mobil announced that it started production at Canada's Hebron project ahead of schedule. At its peak, the project is expected to produce up to 150,000 barrels of oil per day.

The newly published sixth edition of the specifications updates the ISO 8217:2012. In order to comply with the new specifications, ExxonMobil said it now includes the cold filter plugging point and cloud point of distillate fuels on its bunker delivery notes.

American energy company ExxonMobil joined a consortium of European oil companies, including BP, Eni, Repsol, Shell, Statoil, Total and Wintershall, with the aim to further reduce methane emissions from the natural gas assets they operate around the world.

According to Reuters, an LNG import project consortium in Pakistan, formed by Exxon Mobil, France’s Total and Qatar Petroleum has been dissolved as the members didn't manage to agree with Global Energy Infrastructure.
