Sources report that about 66 people suffered minor injuries when the fire broke out on July 31, at a massive ExxonMobil plant in Texas. Allegedly, the fire broke out at a polypropylene recovery unit where plastic is purified for production.
A near miss incident involving a dropped object occurred on ExxonMobil Canada’s Thebaud platform off Nova Scotia, Canada, on 24 January, according to data provided by the Canada-Nova Scotia Offshore Petroleum Board (CNSOPB).
A near miss incident from dropped object was reported onboard the ‘Noble Regina Allen’ jack-up rig, offshore Nova Scotia, when a 52 foot chain fell onboard on 5 November. There were five workers in the area at the time of the incident, but no one was injured. Although there were no injuries associated with this incident, it was determined that it had the potential for fatality.
