Evergreen Marine reached an agreement with Samsung Heavy Industries to order eight 11,000 TEU containerships. Four ships will be owned by EMC’s subsidiary, Greencompass Marine and four more by Evergreen Marine. The newbuildings will be delivered from the first quarter of 2020 through the second quarter of 2021.

CMA CGM, COSCO, Evergreen and OOCL upgrade their services by offering the "Day Two Product". This new product, due in April 2018, will have an estimated carrying capacity of around 3.6 million TEUs with around 340 containerships deployed on 41 services.

The officers and crew of Evergreen Line’s containership EVER DIADEM joined forces with another ship to rescue thirty seafarers forced to abandon their burning fishing vessel, off the coast of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, on 9 July. While en route from Singapore to Durban, EVER DIADEM’s crew found the distressed seafarers drifting in two lifeboats.

Evergreen Line has teamed up with Alibaba.com, a wholesale marketplace for global trade under Alibaba Group, to provide site members with the option of booking sea freight services online with guaranteed space and prices. The Taiwanese company has also appointed Evergreen Logistics Corporation, as a provider of logistics solutions for Alibaba.com members opting for its sea freight services.

Evergreen is launching its Korea-Taiwan-Philippines service in Subic Bay Freeport, in order to facilitate trade among the key ports of the three trading economies, adding the ICTSI-operated new container terminals 1 and 2 to its port rotation. Aside from exports and imports, the service also offers transshipment for overseas cargo.

Members of the OCEAN Alliance, COSCO Container Lines, CMA CGM, Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line, have signed a document entitled the Day One Product, which sets out the proposed OCEAN Alliance’s network, including port rotation for each service loop.

In order to offer shippers a more comprehensive service on Asia-Australia trade, Evergreen Line has announced that is teaming up with OOCL, MOL, "K" Line and YML to offer a new joint North East Asia - Australia Express (NEAX).

Evergreen Line is to partner with COSCO in operating a joint Adriatic - Israel Service. The new initiative opens up the corridor between North Adriatic ports, Piraeus and Israel.

CMA CGM, COSCO Container Lines, Evergreen Line and Orient Overseas Container Line signed a Memorandum of Understanding to form a new Alliance enabling each of them to offer competitive products and comprehensive service networks covering the Asia-Europe, Asia-Mediterranean, Asia-Red Sea, Asia-Middle East, Trans-Pacific, Asia-North America East Coast, and Trans-Atlantic trades.
