Maryland Comptroller Peter Franchot urges Evergreen to start a $100m responsibility fund for any economic or environmental impact caused by the Ever Forward's grounding at Chesapeake Bay. 

The Ever Forward containership was successfully refloated on Sunday, 17 April 2022, from the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay more than a month after it ran aground.

The lightering operations of the containership Ever Forward which still remains firmly aground in the Chesapeake Bay has began on April 9 and continues during the daylight hours each day.

The container removal operation for the Ever Forward boxship in Chesapeake Bay has began from Saturday. The removal will continue in daylight hours over the next several days. 

The equipment installation for the next stage of the refloating operation regarding the Ever Forward containership at Chesapeake Bay, is set to start.

After many failed attempts to refloat the containership at Chesapeake Bay, the revised plan for the Evergreen Marine-owned containership, Ever Forward, which run aground 3 weeks ago, is to unload the containers from the cargo ship. 

Following the second failing attempt to refloat the 12,000 teu Ever Forward, the U.S. Coast Guard announced that, currently, the best thing to do, is a lightering operation of the containership, noting however that this revised plan could take another 2 weeks to be executed. 

Following the second failing attempt to refloat the 12,000 teu Ever Forward, the company Evergreen announced today that, with the increasing costs of the salvage operation, it had declared General Average.

The second attempt to make the Ever Forward containership refloat was in vain. Despite the weather conditions in the Chesapeake Bay, the ship salvage teams could not make the ship move.

The refloating operation of the Ever Forward, which remains stuck until this very moment, started yesterday. However, despite the efforts of the tugboats to make the container move, the operation was unsuccessful.
