Port of Vigo receives high environmental recognition

  On 17 June, ESPO congratulated the Port of Vigo (Spain) for achieving the Port Environmental Review System (PERS) certification a second time. (Image Credit: ESPO) Isabelle Ryckbost, ESPO Secretary General, handed over the PERS certificate to the President of the Port, Mr Ignacio Lopez-Chavez. The certification ceremony took place during the Green Energy Ports Conference, hosted by the Port of Vigo. The event also coincides with European Sustainable Energy Week, which seeks to inspire consumers, public authorities and other stakeholders to join forces in shaping Europe's sustainable energy future. PERS is the only port sector specific environmental management standard. It is the flagship product of the EcoPorts network and is offered as part of the ESPO services to its members through the EcoPorts website. Compliance with the PERS standard is independently assessed by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance and the certificate has a validity of 2 years.
