ERMA FIRST signs new agreement for BWTS retrofit

  ERMA FIRST announced cooperation agreement with Korea's shipbuilding and offshore engineering expert, DSEC, a subsidiary of DSME. ERMA FIRST has signed an MOU with DSEC  on Monday the 22nd of June for the BWTS retrofit market. This  co-operation will offer to ship owners a turnkey solution for their vessels, combining the vast engineering capabilities of DSEC with an extremely simple, robust and efficient technology ,used by  the ERMA FIRST / ERMA FIRST FIT BWTS. More than 40.000 vessels will have to comply to the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention while more and more owners are in the process of making decision on how to best comply with the US ballast water regulations. Mr Konstantinos Stampedakis , Managing Director of ERMA FIRST stated that “ Following a very successful presence of ERMA FIRST in the Korean Market , we are now expanding our capabilities to offer a first  class service to our customers in Greece and abroad”. ERMA FIRST debunks the greatest myths around Ballast Water Treatment

  ERMA FIRST was between the lead sponsors and exhibitors of the 2015 GREEN4SEA Forum which successfully concluded on Wednesday 22nd  of April 2015 in Eugenides Foundation Athens attracting 950 delegates from 25 countries representing a total of 450 organizations. ERMA FIRST’s International Sales Manager, Mr. Leif Erik Caspersen, analysed during his presentation the ten myths about the Ballast Water Treatment. The presenter during his short but comprehensive presentation shared ERMA FIRST’s opinion/knowledge on these myths. He highlighted that it is never too late to do anything about the environment with all the ballast water being carried around the world. The company’s latest great achievement is the ERMA FIRST BWTS FIT, a ballast water treatment system suitable in fresh water operations. The system has received type approval from the Greek Administration for operation at fresh water conditions (0.9 psu), class approval from Lloyd’s Register and AMS from USCG. Ten Myths about Ballast Water Treatment

  Leif Eric Caspersen, International Sales Director, ERMA First presentation during the 2015 GREEN4SEA Forum Our experience and knowledge on the ten myths about Ballast Water Treatment are as follows: Ship owners organizations will force IMO to postpone the ratification of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM). This myth was debunked, as it was clarified that this is not going to happen. «With all the ballast water being carried around the world, it is too late to protect the environment». This was the second myth that Erma First’s International Sales Manager debunked, stressing out that every nine weeks invasive species introduce successfully in the marine environment causing even greater damage than an oil spill, situation that is not going to change unless we apply efficient measures.
