MEPC 70 decided that ships of 5,000 gross tonnage and above will have to collect consumption data for each type of fuel oil they use, as well as other, additional, specified data including proxies for transport work. The Global Shippers’ Forum and Cargo iQ have agreed to work together to implement the Cargo iQ quality management system and promote sustainability in airfreight. The agreement outlines six areas where the two groups will work together towards a more efficient, quality-driven, and secure air cargo supply chain, and explores methods for industry and shippers to better meet customer needs.
