South Korean major shipbuilder Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that its newly spun-off company Hyundai Global Services, specializing in providing total marine services, has signed a MoU with compatriot shipping company KSS Line, for entering into eco-friendly ship business.
South Korean Shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine has selected three compatriot shipbuilders for the construction of its twenty eco-friendly mega container ships, under the company’s ‘Capacity of 1 Million TEU’ strategy, and the Korean government’s ‘5 Year Plan for Rebuilding Korean Shipping’ plan.
Greek shipowner Alpha Gas has ordered two LNG carriers from South Korean shipbuilder DSME, in a bid to to strengthen its LNG-related business. The total contract worth is about $ 3.7 billion. The vessels will be constructed at the Okpo shipyard in Geoje and are due for delivery by the end of 2020.
