Wärtsilä announced that has been awarded model year 2017 certification of emissions compliance from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), for its Wärtsilä 34DF dual-fuel engine family. These are the first Category 3 Tier III certificates by the EPA.

LR and Hyundai Heavy Industries have signed a joint development project to commence an approval in principal for a barge mounted power plant, Hi-Floating Power™. By separating duel fuel engines into two independent compartments, the design of the barge provides efficient operation, even in case of emergencies, as fire.

Desgagnés has taken delivery of the M/T Damia Desgagnés, a new vessel recently completed in Turkey. The vessel is the first dual-fuel powered Canadian-flagged tanker and the first-ever asphalt carrier of this type, build according to an original concept developed by Desgagnés and ordered at the Besiktas shipyard located in Turkey.

AET announced that up to four of its new Aframax tankers, currently under construction with Samsung Heavy Industries, will be equipped with the LNG dual fuel option. Fitted with twin LNG tanks, the vessels will have the ability to trade on LNG fuel for about a month before refuelling and will likely operate in North America, Northwest Europe and Asia.

Norwegian Odfjell announced the signing of a letter of intent for two additional chemical tankers, with stainless steel cargo tanks, to be built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding, in China. Both vessels will be prepared for dual fuel solution.
