DSME takes step forward for its own LNG cargo containment system

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) informed that it received design approval from Bureau Veritas (BV) for its LNG cargo containment system. DSME has already obtained approvals from Lloyd’s Register, the US Bureau of Shipping, the Korea Register of Shipping, and DNV GL.

MAN, DSME, HSD Engine team up on engine digitization

South Korean shipbuilder Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), ship engines provider HSD Engine (HSD) and German MAN Energy Solutions signed a strategic agreement to cooperate in the field of marine engine systems digitization.

First LNG carrier with full re-liquefaction system delivered

South Korean shipbuilder DSME announced that it has launched the world’s first LNG carriers using a full re-liquefaction system that completely re-liquefies the evaporative gas generated from LNG carriers. The company also delivered the world’s first LNG cargo ship with partial liquefaction system in 2016.

DSME awarded deal for the construction of two LNG carriers

South Korean shipbuilding company, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, informed on Tuesday that it has reached an agreement worth US$370 million, for the construction of two LNG carriers for an undisclosed shipping firm. DSME will deliver the two LNG carriers by the first half of 2020.

Flex LNG inks time-charter deal for first LNG carrier

FLEX LNG entered into a time-charter contract for the LNG carrier newbuilding ‘FLEX Endeavour’ with Germany-based energy company Uniper Global Commodities. Currently under construction at DSME, the ship is a 173,400 m3 cargo capacity LNG carrier equipped with the new high efficiency MEGI propulsion system.

DSME demonstrates new LNG containment system

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering announced that it has successfully demonstrated its indirect heat exchanger regeneration system, LNG cargo hold ‘SOLIDUS’ and ‘MCTIB’ at the Energy System Experiment Center in Okpo Shipyard. 

DSME to build FSRU and LNG carrier

South Korean shipbuilding company, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering announced that it has won an order to construct a Floating Storage Regasification Unit and an LNG carrier.

GTT to equip two new LNG carriers for DSME

GTT announced that received an order from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, to equip two LNG carriers with its NO96 GW containment system. DSME shipyard based in Geoje – South Korea – will build the vessels of 173,400 m3 each, on behalf of a European ship-owner. Deliveries are scheduled in 2019.

DSME to build eco-friendly VLCCs for HMM

Hyundai Merchant Marine has singed a letter of intent with Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering for the construction of five 300,000 dwt very large crude carriers, with an option of five more vessels. Discussion about LNG carrier engine & Eco-friendly technology will be also made.
