The US NTSB issued an investigation report on the explosion and fire involving the dredger 'Jonathon King Boyd' and its towboat 'Bayou Chevron' in Matagorda Bay, in April 2018. The report highlighted the company's failure to inform the crew about utilities in the area due to ineffective oversight. 

Qatar’s Ministry of Transport and Communications informed that it has completed the dredging works at Doha Port as part of its redevelopment project. Namely, up to 3.5mn cubic meters of material in the approach channel have been cleared and additional berthing has been provided to welcome more than one giant cruise ship.

The first European dredger converted to dual-fuel LNG/MGO propulsion has departed Damen Shiprepair Dunkerque (DSDu), back to operations, 23 months after the contract signing. The 117 metre-8,500 cu m-trailing suction hopper dredger 'Samuel de Champlain' belongs to Rouen-based GIE Dragages-Ports and is operated by the Port of Nantes-Saint-Nazaire. 

Luxembourg-based Jan De Nul Group revealed its commitment to reduce CO₂ emissions by 15% a year during maintenance dredging works at the Nieuwpoort coastal marina and to include by 2020 a minimum requirement of 15% CO₂ reduction in 80% of maintenance dredging contracts in Flanders.

The Port of Corpus Christi commenced its dredging work to expand Corpus Christi Ship Channel and prepare the port for the anticipated increase in US crude oil exports. The Port of Corpus Christi ship channel Improvement project will deepen and widen the entrance ship channel from 47 up to 54 feet and widen it from 400 to 530 feet.

MPA Singapore issued a marine notice concerning dredging operations in Temasek Fairway; The notice is a revision as the working period has been extended, whereas the list of craft and working areas have been revised. Specifically, the dredging operations will take place from May 31 to November 30 2019.

Underwater sound created by dredging equipment below the water surface can impact marine life and requires careful evaluation and monitoring, according to the International Association of Dredging Companies. Sound levels must be evaluated in relation to their possible effect on the specific marine fauna. The aim of evaluating underwater sound is to ensure a balance between the environmental impacts and socio-economic benefits of the dredging project.

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) will soon begin maintenance dredging at the Port of Weipa, while dredging is to be completed at Amrun on behalf of Rio Tinto. The dredging operation will take place from 3 June to July 17, along with the dredge vessels TSHD Brisbane and Oranje, within the port of Weipa nad Amrun.

Wärtsilä presented the Wärtsilä HY for Dredger, a new product based on Wärtsilä’s HY hybrid propulsion technology. Its goal is to improve the efficiency and sustainability of dredging operations. The new technology is able to optimise performance throughout the vessel's lifecycle. 

MPA Singapore warns mariners that with effect from 24 May 2019 to 23 November 2019, works will be taking place off south of Marina East. The works will include dredging and installation of steel pipes and towers. Crane barges will be used to install steel pipes and towers. The dredgers will have a circular safety working zone of 50-metre radius centered from the dredgers.
