Port of Limassol in Cyprus is going to be modernized under the Sea Traffic Management in the Eastern Mediterranean (STEAM) project. In fact, STEAM goals to advance and further develop the port, so as to become a worldclass terminal equipped with modern and digital technologies.
Eurogate Container Terminal Limassol Ltd has finalized the first phase of investments at the Limassol Container Terminal, amounting at a total worth of over €30m. In addition, two new super post panamax cranes that are already operating, along with 17 new straddle carriers have been bought.
The construction of the new industrial port of Vassilikos is expected to begin operations in 2023, as Cyprus News Agency reports. The port will operate as a service centre for the oil and gas industry in Cyprus and the wider region, and its costs will be around €250 million.
