The cruise ship ‘Costa Deliziosa’ hardly avoided collision with the dock while transiting a canal in Venice during inclement weather on Sunday. The incident comes only a month after a similar incident involving a cruise ship in Venice, surging concerns about the safety of large cruise ships in Venice’s canals.

An MSC cruise ship crashed into a pier and a tourist river boat on a busy canal in Venice, on June 2. According to local media, four people were injured due to the collision, with MSC explaining that the ship experienced mechanical problems.
Spirit of Discovery completed its conveyance across the river Ems on May 26 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. After sailing through the Ems barrier, the ship reached the Emden sea lock, with the help of tugs. The cruise ship is the first of two vessels ordered from Meyer Werft by Saga Cruises. The Princess cruises ship ‘Regal Princess’ rescued two people from the water, after their private aircraft went down in the Caribbean Sea, southeast of Grand Turk. The cruise ship was en route from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, when she received a notification by USCG.
Spectrum of the Seas is nearing completion, as it was floated out of the dry dock on February 25, 2019, to start the next phase of construction at Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany. Spectrum will be delivered in April 2019, and will be operating in the Chinese market. Two tugboats, with 9,000 horsepower each, pulled the ship out of the dry dock.
The Norwegian Epic cruise vessel sustained power loss during its current cruise to the Caribbean on February 12, requiring the NCL cruise ship to divert to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The cruise vessel was planned to voyage to Tortola, British Virgin Islands, and later on sail to St Thomas, US Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay, Bahamas on February 15th before returning to Port Canaveral on February 16th.
