Watch: Cruise ship collided with cargo vessel on Danube river

The Phoenix Reisen river cruise ship Prinzessin Isabella collided with an unidentified Panama-flagged cargo ship in Tulcea waters, Romania, Danube, in the early morning of Saturday, 5 October. The cargo vessel which was proceeding upstream en route to Galati, severely damaged the cruise ship with 165 passengers on board and was sailing downstream to Tulcea at the time of the collision.

Royal Caribbean ship returns to port after engine issues

Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship ‘Grandeur of the Seas’ canceled its sailing due to an engine problem, shortly after it left its home port in Baltimore, Maryland on Saturday. The ship had to return to the harbor and cancel the cruise, which included a call to Bermuda.

On July 7, a USCG MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew evacuated a seven-year-old girl, as she was suffering from abdominal pain, from the cruise ship Celebrity Summit. The helicopter hoisted the girl, which was then transported at the Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters in Norfolk.

The cruise ship ‘Costa Deliziosa’ hardly avoided collision with the dock while transiting a canal in Venice during inclement weather on Sunday. The incident comes only a month after a similar incident involving a cruise ship in Venice, surging concerns about the safety of large cruise ships in Venice’s canals. 

USCG suspends search for Carnival Victory’s lost crewmember

According to the US Coast Guard’s statement, they suspended their search for the missing crewmember, on July 7, who fell from the Carnival Victory cruise ship. The USCG members searched for 45 hours, about 2,600 square nautical miles, but weren’t able to detect the crewmember.

According to reports, the US coast guard commenced a search operation of a 37-year-old man who fell overboard from the cruise ship Carnival Victory. The incident took place on July 4, while the vessel was sailing northwest of Cuba. 

Cruise ships damage Venice, Italia Nostra reports

After a cruise ship collided with a dock and a tourist boat in Venice on June 2 in the Giudecca Canal, the historic preservation association Italia Nostra stated that large ships should no longer travel along that channel. 
Specifically, Italia Nostra said that the June accident shows that Venice is at serious risk and called for a ban of cruise ships in the city.

Cruise ship crewmember dives to rescue passenger

As the cruise company informed Fox News, a crewmember from the MSC Seaview cruise ship dived into the water to save a passenger who ‘chose, on her own will, to jumb overboard’ in Italy. The unidentified Irish woman allegedly jumped from the MSC Seaview cruise ship while it was at the Italian cit of Genoa. 

Cruise vessel returns to Ijmuiden after hitting something in water

As local sources report, the Columbus cruise ship unexpectedly changed its course and docked at the Felison Cruise Terminal in IJmuiden. While the cruise vessel departed from Amsterdam it hit something in the water. Thus, the Port of Amsterdam and the Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate were then on board for consultation and the exchange of information.
