The Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) released its annual Asia Cruise Industry Ocean Source Market Report, which analyzes the growth, demographics and trends of the top source markets in Asia. The report noted a record-breaking 4.24 million ocean-going cruise passengers in 2018.
Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA), the largest cruise industry trade organisation globally, published its 2018 global cruise passenger statistics. An almost 7% increase was seen from 2017 to 2018 in the cruising industry, reaching the 28.5 million passengers. According to CLIA, North American travellers continue embracing cruising, with an annual passenger increase of 9% (14.2 million passengers) in 2018.
Princess Cruises announced debut of a 111-day World Cruise that will visit 50 destinations in 32 countries, across six continents, including Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, South America and North America, starting from 2021.
CLIA released their annual ‘Asia Cruise Trends’ report, revealing that most Asian source markets registering double-digit year-on-year growth. The number of Asian passengers in 2017 grew at an impressive rate, with increases in passenger volume across most of the Asia markets compared to 2016.
2017 has been another positive year for cruise industry, with a significant passenger growth, according to CLIA’s recently-released cruise industry numbers for the year. The industry has surpassed the 2017 ocean cruise passenger projections, reaching 26.7 million passengers globally up from a projection of 25.8 million.
