Activists with the Clean Up Carnival Coalition conducted a press conference outside the National Park Service’s Anchorage Regional Office in Alaska and presented a petition that was signed by more than 46,000 people who call for the suspension of Carnival Corporation’s cruise ship permits in Glacier Bay National Park.
Following the trend around the ban of single-use plastics, the Norwegian Cruise Line announced that is now single-use plastic beverage bottle free across its fleet. The company announced a collaboration with JUST® Goods, Inc., which helped the cruise line change all single-use plastic water bottles across its 17-ship fleet, beginning with its most recent ship, Norwegian Encore.
Carnival informed the USCG on January 2 that the cruise ship Carnival Elation accidentally released 6,000 gallons of gray water into the harbor at Port Canaveral, Florida. The incident took place during routine deballasting at the pier.
