According to Barcelona authorities, a cargo ship collided with a loading crane in the port, causing a fire on October 31. No injuries were reported, while firefighters are assessing the situation, as they have controlled the fire. In addition to the fire four containers fell from the ship.

Yilport Puerto Bolívar has ordered 6 ship-to-shore cranes and 18 electrified rubber-tired gantry cranes. The cranes will be delivered in three shipments to support rising volumes and modernization plans of Yilport Puerto Bolívar. 2 STS cranes and 6 RTG cranes will be delivered in the last quarter of 2019. The second and third deliveries to include 4 STS and 12 RTG cranes will be shipped in the first half of 2020.

Abu Dhabi Terminals selected Konecranes to supply an Automated Stacking Crane system for the second phase of the building of its container terminal in Khalifa Port, namely the Khalifa Port Container Terminal. The order includes 54 Automated Rail Mounted Gantry cranes. 

UK MAIB issued an investigation report on the allision of the UK-registered container ship 'CMA CGM Centaurus' with the quay that resulted in collapse of a shore crane and subsequent injury of 10 persons. MAIB noted that many of the factors in this accident can be attributed to the lack of compliance with the principles of Bridge Resource Management and to a focus on completing acts of pilotage as quickly as possible.

The video, published by the Dutch lifting and drilling company Huisman Equipment, depicts the installation of two 10,000-tonne tub mounted cranes on Heerema’s Sleipnir semi-submersible crane vessel, in Singapore. The two cranes are the world’s largest tub cranes with a radius of 48 meters.

Four ship-to-shore cranes at Oakland International Container Terminal, are now 27 feet taller after completing a year-long, crane-raising project. The fourth and final raised crane went back into service last week and is ready to serve larger ships with containers stacked high above vessel decks.

Swire Blue Ocean informed that four of the crew on board Pacific Osprey suffered injuries during a crane related work incident while at berth alongside in Eemshaven, Holland. The incident took place on 23rd August when the box section of the crane boom on Pacific Osprey collapsed onto the deck near the bridge.

In its latest Safety Flashes, IMCA presents a case of lost time injury, where an experienced AB suffered serious ankle injuries during offloading operations. A vessel was delivering drill pipe casings to a jack-up rig, when he was hit by the casing bundle being discharged. 

On 25 July 2018, PSA Norway carried out an audit of the follow-up of materials handling, cranes and lifting on 'Martin Linge B', the FSO unit that was recently installed in North Sea. The audit detected non-conformities in procedures for cranes and lifting operations, completion of cranes and training.
