OCIMF published an information paper on ‘Transfer of Personnel by Crane Between Vessels’, focusing on the use of an onboard crane for personnel transfer, that has risks. This paper addresses those risks and provides guidance that should be used in the risk assessment process to determine the method of transfer, comparing transfers using a crane to transfers using a pilot ladder and transfers using an accommodation ladder.
The campaign, will take place this spring, and will involve interagency teams visiting multiple drilling and production units across the Gulf of Mexico. These teams will use a focused inspections protocol to evaluate safety, gather and provide data to BSEE’s Office of Safety Management.
Maritime New Zealand informed that it is working closely with stevedoring companies to improve safety practices in the log loading industry, following an intensive health and safety inspection campaign earlier this year.
