Authorities in the southern Indian state of Kerala have been urgently working to contain an oil spill in the Arabian Sea after MSC ELSA sank.

MSC begun tracking and recovering containers that washed ashore after its vessel, MSC Elsa 3, sank off the coast of Kochi on 25 May.

The container ship MSC Houston V lost 15 containers in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Portugal on March 20 after encountering severe weather conditions from Storm Martinho.

The containership SM Portland, operated by SM Line, lost 115 containers due to severe weather while sailing through the Bering Sea on March 4.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) published an investigation report into an incident where 23 containers were lost overboard.

The South African Maritime Safety Authority (SAMSA) is conducting a search for five containers lost overboard by the MV MSC Taranto on 2 October 2024.
