Divers investigating the collision of US navy warship John S. McCain and tanker Alnic MC have discovered some of the 10 missing US Navy sailors inside the guided-missile destroyer, according to data revealed by Pacific Fleet Commander Admiral, Scott Swift.

The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore informed in an updated statement that it continues Search and Rescue operations, to  locate the 10 crew who are unaccounted for, after the collision of US Navy’s guided-missile destroyer John S. McCain with the oil tanker Alnic MC, in the early hours of August 21.

Ten crew members are missing and five are injured, after the guided-missile destroyer USS John S. McCain collided with the merchant vessel Alnic MC, while underway east of the Straits of Malacca and Singapore, on August 21, according to US Navy.

The US Coast Guard is investigating a collision between a recreational boat and a commercial passenger vessel, that occurred in late hours of 25 July, off Isla Magueyes, in Lajas, Puerto Rico. So far, 21 passengers from both vessels have been reported with sustained injuries.

UK MAIB presented a case of collision between a domestic passenger vessel and a tug, due to unexpected hydrodynamic interaction, while operating in confined waters. MAIB provides a description of what happened and important lessons learned to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

NTSB issued an investigation report, regarding a collision between the US Coast Guard cutter Thetis and the dump scow barge 123,being pushed by Matachin, in Panama Canal, on 2 June 2016. Although Matachin and its tow were not damaged, the Thetis sustained an estimated $1.2 million in damage to the hull and deck plate aft, as well as to various systems in the steering gear room.

An oil tanker and a cargo ship collided in the early hours of July 1st, in the Channel east of the British port of Dover. Both vessels suffered damage in the collision, with the Seafrontier tanker having a hole above the water line and damage to the superstructure. There were no reports of injuries or water pollution.

On June 17, 2017, the NYK containership collided with the U.S. Navy destroyer USS Fitzgerald off the coast of Shimoda in Shizuoka prefecture, Japan. On June 19th, US Navy confirmed that all seven missing sailors from the USS Fitzgerald were found dead in flooded berthing compartments.

On May 29, an Auckland ferry company, Fullers Group, was fined $40,000 and ordered to pay reparations of $90,000, after passengers were injured when the Auckland ferry Kea collided with Victoria wharf at Devonport on 17 February 2015, Maritime New Zealand informed.

UK MAIB issued an investigation report, concerning the collision between the rigid inflatable boats Osprey and Osprey II, in the Firth of Forth, Scotland, on 19 July 2016, that resulted in serious injuries to one passenger. The report presents a summary of the case and possible prevention solutions from future accidents.
