Tokyo MoU issues CIC Preliminary Results

The Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Crew Familiarization for Enclosed Space Entry was carried out between 1 September and 30 November 2015 in the Tokyo MOU region. The aim of the CIC was to ensure that effective procedures and measures are in place to safeguard seafarers on board ships when entering and working in enclosed spaces and to check compliance with the applicable requirements of the SOLAS Convention.

Paris MoU: CIC Campaign on Enclosed Space Entry to raise awareness

Paris MoU announced that the results of the Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Crew Familiarization for Enclosed Space Entry which carried out between 1st September 2015 and 30th November 2015 indicate industry awareness. The CIC did not lead to an increase in the rate of detentions however the actual compliance, shown in drills, could be better (7.9% of drills were found to be unsatisfactory).

Black Sea MoU issues CIC preliminary results

Black Sea MoU issued the preliminary results of the Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) on Crew Familiarization for Enclosed Space Entry which carried out between 1st September 2015 and 30th November 2015. Information gathered about the existence of measures in place to test the atmosphere of an enclosed space to confirm it is safe to enter and remains safe whilst persons are within the space.

Riyadh MoU to launch CIC on PSC

From 1st October to 31st December 2015 Riyadh MoU has announced the launch of a Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) based on Safety of Navigation, SOLAS Chapter V which will take place for three months (October - December 2015)The purpose of this CIC is to ensure that ships comply with the requirements of equipment such as AIS, VDR as well as to ensure that the Master and Watch Keeping Officers are familiar with these equipment.Consequently, as from 1st October 2015, all vessels may be subject to an additional check by PSCO's. The campaign period will be commenced from 1st October 2015 and it will be held for 3 months, ending on 31st December 2015.In order to assist ships staff for this CIC, a check list to help Masters, Designated Persons Ashore and crew has been prepared to prevent the vessels from being delayed or detained by Port State Control Officer(s).The ships must comply with all applicable International Conventions at all times.(Please click to enlarge)Source: Riyadh MoU
